How to
How to fit suffering into a poem
There’s no hand book on how to grieve
Each with our own process
In this game of dare or dare
one prescription we all share
We get a choice
Feel through it… or suppress the voice
So this one is for the
brave & broken-hearted
Those who posess the courage to step in, fully aware they’ll never be the same again.
Suffering has a way
of taking up the entire room
Accompanied by an overwhelming
sense of doom
At times we feel the need to hide
As we beg God to take us from this ride
Denial:
this isnt happening, no way,
not to me….
Must remain calm, that’s the key.
Anger:
how could this happen?
Is the world really this cruel?
I thought I was the exception to the rule ..
Such a fool.
Bargaining:
My unsettling friend Hope is here, the unwanted beggar hiding behind my fear.
Depression:
Where is my will to live?
Will I ever forgive ?
Forgive
Forgive
Forgive him… her…
Myself
Acceptance:
Grace grabs hold of my hand & gently guides me to stand.
“Write about it,” she says…
Undress your vulnerability &
shine a light on your fear
Maybe another will hear
& you’ll get to be their Grace
As you fold time & space
& show those who ache
they aren’t alone
There
is
always
a way back
